Soccer Clubs Merger Update
To Sting Soccer players and families:
On Wednesday, May 9, the voting results of South Saint Paul and Inver Grove Heights, as to a merger of their soccer clubs with Sting, were communicated to their respective clubs. Both clubs voted against a merger.
Sting Soccer - 2012 and 2013
Sting Soccer is very healthy and growing. We committed more than $15,000 into winter training this past year and for the summer of 2012 we have 11 boys teams and 10 girls teams. We have over 310 players this year which I believe is a high point for our soccer club. Importantly, over 2/3 of our traveling teams are U15 and younger. The West St. Paul youth soccer program, which Sting supports, is also doing extremely well under Derotha Blaeser's leadership with close to record participants. As we go into 2013, I am more excited than ever to help enhance the soccer experience for our players. In that regard, our plans for the remainder of 2012 and into 2013 include but are not limited to the following:
· Scheduling the mandatory try-outs for 2013 teams in late July and early August (exact dates and location are being worked on and will be communicated);
· Having the Fall soccer 2012 soccer registration occur BEFORE the end of the summer season;
· Enhancing winter training opportunities by expanding our relationship with experienced/professional futsal programs and/or leagues locally or surrounding areas; and
· If the new West St. Paul dome is completed later this year, establishing various winter soccer leagues through our recent commitment to rent prime time hours in the new facility.
In summary, I want to thank all of the people who helped explore a merger of our club with SPP and IGH. We learned a lot and I can say with great confidence, Sting is in a very strong and enviable position going in 2012 and 2013.

Sting Registration for Summer 2012 is closed. We are not accepting any addtional players for Summer 2012. Tryouts for 2013 will be in early August.
